１２月４日、その日は快晴だった。１１時ごろ東日本橋辺りから清洲橋通りを浜町に向けて走り、箱崎経由で永代橋を渡った。門前仲町から三つ目通りを走り、越中島から都立三商の前を通り、豊洲へと出た。そこからはユリカモメの高架の下を走り、「有明テニスの森」駅に着いた。

December 4th, it was sunny. I cycled from Higashinihon-bashi towards Hama-machi going along Kiyosu-bashi dori Ave.. Then, I crossed Eidai Bridge by way of Hakozaki in Nihonbashi. After that, I made my way to Toyosu area through Monzennaka-chou, Ecchu-jima, and Toritsu Sanshou (commercial high school). I cycled along the street under the overpass of Yurikamome railway and finally got to "Ariake-tennis-no-mori station" (Ariake Tennis Park).



東雲や辰巳方向に目をやると東雲運河沿いに、広大な空き地が見えてきた。そこが有明の「ＢＭＸコース（自転車競技）」「体操競技場」「アリーナ（バレー競技）」の整備予定地のようだった。
その辺りをしばらく走ると、表示看板が目に入り、そこには「有明アリーナ（仮称）」となっていた。

Looking towards Shinonome and Tatsumi area, I could see a huge vacant site along Shinonome canal. It seemed to be a construction site for Ariake BMX(motocross), Ariake Olympic Gymnastic Center, and Ariake Arena(volleyball). I found a notice of the construction plan of these facilities, and it said "Ariake Arena(Tentative)".


４者協議の対象で、今年のクリスマスイブまでに、小池都知事が横浜アリーナにするか、有明アリーナを新たに整備するか、検討し結論を出すという、注目のエリアである。

"Ariake Arena" is attracting people’s attention because Tokyo Governor Koike will decide whether to build a new stadium in Ariake or to use existing stadium in Yokohama, as I mentioned above.


だだ広く、草が生えたその場所は、２０２０年東京オリンピックの中心となるかも知れない予定地である。確かにユリカモメの駅から歩くとすると、３０～４０分はかかるかも知れないが、テニス、体操、ＢＭＸ（仮設）、が集積し、少し足を延ばすと辰巳には水泳競技場（アクアティクスセンター）があることを考えると、ここにバレーボール競技のアリーナが整備されるとコンパクトオリンピックの要になるような気もする。周囲はマンション建設用地はあるものの、まだこれから開発される地帯であるように見える。

This vast vacant site covered with weeds would be a center of Tokyo Olympic in 2020. Admitting that it takes 30 to 40 minutes walk from the nearest station of Yurikamome railway to this area, I guess it will be a perfect example of "compact Olympic(space-saving)". All major facilities, including Ariake Arena can be gathered in a relatively small space. There are some building sites for condominiums, but this area seems to have great potentialities for development.

１３２９日後の東京五輪が行われた後は、屋内スポーツ競技や音楽イベント会場として使われる予定であるようだが、東京の発展のシンボルとして、ここにアリーナを整備するのも一考であるとは思う。小池知事も有明アリーナを作るとしたら、その後の事も考え運営権を民間に売却する方法も考えているようだ。お金のことを考えるとなかなか大変であるが、東京湾岸の新たな埋め立て地に、スポーツ競技場を集約して、発展の起爆材にするという構想は決して悪くはないと、その広大な敷地を見て思った。

There are some future plans to use "Ariake Arena" for indoor sports or music events after 2020 Olympics. Taking these plans into consideration, I think it is not such a bad idea to build a new facility here because it will be a symbol of prosperity of Tokyo city. It is said that Tokyo Governor Koike is considering about transferring a right of management of this facility to some private corporation after Olympics. Gathering some facilities in one area might encourage the economic advancement of Tokyo though financial problem would be an obstacle to do it.


アリーナの候補地から、テニスの森に入った。秋の紅葉に染まったその森の中のテニスコートは利用者でほぼ全部埋まっていた。各コートからは歓声が時々上がってきた。

Leaving the construction site, I went into Ariake Tennis Park site. The park was beautiful with autumn leaves and almost all of the tennis courts were occupied. I could hear some cheers of people there.


これだけの木々に囲まれた約５０のテニスコートは、なかなかの雰囲気であると感じた。そして中には入らなかったが、室内テニスコートがあるコロシアムがドンと真ん中で存在感を出していた。

These tennis courts surrounded by so many trees were quite appealing. Moreover, Ariake Colosseum, which has a indoor tennis court with large capacity was standing out in the center.



更に台場まで走り、「お台場海浜公園」に着いた。すぐそこにレンボーブリッジが見え、遊覧船が何艘も行きかっていた。砂浜では、ビーチバレーコートが７つほど設置され、そこでは思い思いに、楽しんでいる様子が見られた。沢山のカモメが飛び交い、その情景の中で子供たちの歓声が聞こえていた。

Then, I cycled towards Daiba area and got to "Odaiba Seaside Park". There was Rainbow Bridge close to the park and many cruisers were going by there. On the seashore, there were 7 courts of beach ball volleyball and some people were enjoying it in their own way. Many seagulls are flying in the sky, and I could hear children laugh.

その日は、その公園から真新しい４８４号線のブリッジを渡り、豊洲市場前を通り、行きと同じ越中島を抜けて、出発点までの帰途に着いた。

I finished my tour of the day and went home by crossing the brand-new bridge of Route 484, passing in front of Toyosu Market, and going through Ecchu-jima, the same route as beginning.
