１１月２３日、その日の空はどんより雲が立ち込めていたが、予想ほど寒くはなかった。
１０時ごろ、日本橋辺りから内堀通りに入り、皇居の濠へに出て、北の丸公園に入った。
北の丸公園の中は、綺麗に整理されて、秋の装いに変わった並木道が美しく感じられた。

November 23rd. It was not so cold as I expected though the sky was cloudy and dull. Around 10:00 a.m., I turned in Uchibori-dori Street in Nihon-bashi area. Then I went towards Kitanomaru Park passing by moat around the Imperial Palace.

The park is kept beautiful. Paths inside the park were dressed with colorful autumn leaves.


奥まったところに、「武道館」の正面があった。

I found the entrance of Nippon Budokan at inner part of the park.


そこを通り過ぎると、千鳥ヶ淵に出て、そのまま英国大使館の前を走り、国立劇場の前を過ぎ、国道２４６号線に入った。
２キロぐらい走り、青山１丁目の交差点から、神宮外苑に入った。すっかり紅葉した銀杏並木は、大勢の人々で賑わっていた。

From there, I pedaled my bike towards Chidori-ga-fuchi and went by British Embassy. After that I went along Route246 passing National Theater. I went about 2 kilometers and turned the Aoyama-1 -chome intersection. Then I got to Jingu Gaien which is famous for its line of gingko trees. The garden was crowded with many people who gathered to see the yellow colored gingko trees.




少し行くと、広大な工事現場が、見えてきた。独特の屋根が長く連なる囲い塀の上に見えてきたので、そこが「新国立競技場」の建設現場だと感じた。

Going a little way, I came across a huge construction site. It seemed to a construction site of New National Stadium because I could see its distinctive roof over long fences.

途中で、「建築計画のお知らせ」という告知板があったので、それを見ると、完成予定が平成３１年１１月３０日になっていた。五輪の半年前のようだ。
敷地面積は113,039㎡（約３万坪）とやはり広大なものだ。ＪＲの千駄ヶ谷駅近くまで続いた。

I found a notice of construction plan on the fence. It said the construction of this stadium will be completed by November 30th in 2019. It is half a year before Tokyo Olympics.
Its whole site area is as large as 113,039 square meters. It would be a large stadium like other facilities. The construction site covered as far as vicinities of JR Sendagaya Station.




その千駄ヶ谷駅前には、東京体育館があった。この日も長蛇の列が出来て、何かのイベントが開催されるものと思った。

There was Tokyo Taiiku-kan(Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium) in front of JR Sendagaya Station. A long line was snaking in front of the gymnasium maybe because of some event or something.



その前の道を下って行くと、明治通りに出た。左折するとＪＲ原宿の駅前に出て、表参道に入ると、間もなく「国立代々木競技場」の吊屋根型の構造物が威容を誇って見えた。
車道の反対側は、代々木公園で、少し行くとＮＨＫ放送センターがある。

As I went down the street in front of the gymnasium, I came to Meiji-dori Ave.. I turned left the avenue, then I got to JR Harajuku Station. Soon after that, a stately suspended roof of Yoyogi National Stadium had appeared in front of me.
There was Yoyogi Park across the street, and going a little way, I got to NHK Broadcasting Center.





その日は、その地点から引き返した。空は相変わらずどんよりしていた。昼頃になっていたが、出てくる時よりむしろ気温が下がっているように感じた。

I did not go further, and went back on that day. I felt it was getting colder than this morning though it was around the noon.
